About SEA-EU DOC

About SEA-EU DOC

General Overview

Building on the existing “European University of the Seas”, SEA-EU DOC – Beyond Academia: Broadening the Career Horizons of Doctoral Students in Marine and Maritime Sciences in Europe, is an Erasmus+ project under the Strategic Partnership for Higher Education (KA203) that runs from September 1st 2020 till August 31st 2023.

SEA-EU DOC aims to broaden employment opportunities of doctorate holders by giving visibility to the diversity of marine-related career paths. It also tackles skills mismatches by supporting knowledge exchange and synergy creation at the European level. As a result, the project will ensure a professional future for current and former students by sharing how to turn society’s challenges into better outcomes and opportunities.

Profiling Non-Academic Employment

Training Activities and Multiplier Events

Transferability

Four training activities will take place to help doctoral students in the transition from their studies to the labour market. Since the saturation of academia and skill mismatches of doctorate holders are a common issue across European countries, the topics will range from career development to problem-solving and entrepreneurship readiness.

Seven multiplier events will also occur at different stages to capitalise on the tangible and intangible results achieved throughout the project. Their purpose is to bring together major players from education and industry to showcase, disseminate and reflect upon the outcomes with policymakers, entrepreneurs and other competent authorities. Moreover, it will be a good opportunity for stakeholders to network and share knowledge.
